Gay Marriage
First, my position is clear that I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. However, that is my personal view and it will not drive my policy or governance. I also support the rights and obligations of same-sex couples in civil unions and domestic partnerships and will uphold and implement the newly passed Supreme Court ruling legalizing gay marriage. As an African American man I know about discrimination and as Mayor I will not tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind. Four years from now, I guarantee IÕll be considered one of the staunchest allies of the LGBT community. I will be relentless as I fight to defend the rights of all residents and though some members of the LGBT community may not see eye to eye with me on every issue, I believe I will be respected for the seriousness with which I advocate for, protect and preserve the interests of every citizen.
