I'm writing today from our nation's capital, Washington DC, where I've been participating in the 38th annual "Cap to Cap" (Capital to Capital) event sponsored by the Sacramento Metro Chamber. There are over 400 delegates from the greater Sacramento area here and I have to say it's been very energizing. The opportunity to pull away from the day to day and engage with one another seems to be a real highlight for the participants. The purpose of "Cap to Cap" is to foster collaboration, secure resources and enable prosperity. I definitely think that the venues for dialogue and discussion are going to significantly benefit our city and region in positive ways. Some of the important topics that are being discussed are flood protection, transportation, economic development and insurance for children. I'm looking forward to bringing back a lot of great ideas and new relationships as I return tomorrow to start hitting the streets again to engage people in my candidacy.
In addition to the "Cap to Cap" events, I had the opportunity to meet with Congresswoman Doris Matsui, DC Mayor Adrian Fenty and as well as some government officials about levees. Overall, a very productive and positive trip!
I am glad you were able to attend the ‘Cap to Cap’, Kevin. I have been a member of the business community for many years and have also attended this function in the past. It is a good starting point to gain some perspectives to the direction of our country and provides insight to goals we want to achieve for Sacramento.
One of the biggest accomplishments Sacramento has been able to accomplish with credit to the Chamber, is to interlink our community concerns to the business upcoming issues. Such organizations like the Chamber, SACOG and LEED have addressed this in the past and recognize that we need a succession plan to offset the retiring numbers that is happening within the next decade (if not sooner).
The need to improve our business relations and performances, has a direct interlink to improving our economy and expanding the opportunities of our youth.
I hope ‘Cap to Cap’ provided some additional insight to some strategies. If nothing less, I am sure Doris was impressed and would become a supporter, if she sees what I see.

Hi Kevin! I am a volunteer and strong supporter of your candidacy for mayor of Sacramento. Kevin, have you considered the homeless people of our city? Maybe taking a ride on our public transportation?
I was talking with a fellow named Tim yesterday, who mentioned that some folks in Del Paso Heights would love to have you stop by one of the barbeque joints, and sop-up their support.
You’re awesome!
Regards,
Gail Betty
