Sacramento—Today, mayoral candidate Kevin Johnson received the endorsement of the California Apartment Association PAC, the Rental Housing Association’s local political action committee. The Rental Housing Association (RHA) represents more than 80,000 residential rental units in the Sacramento valley region.
RHA made their decision after interviewing both Johnson and current Mayor Heather Fargo on Wednesday, citing that Johnson was better equipped to tackle several key issues, such as fees assessed to rental owners, regulations imposed on the industry, and taxes on rental properties.
“Our interview process focused on economic and regulatory issues impacting the industry and we look forward to working with Kevin as the next Mayor of Sacramento,” said Michael Force, RHA President for 2008.
The RHA endorsement comes on the heels of the endorsement Johnson received last month from the Sacramento Realtors PAC, who represent approximately 6,000 members actively working in the local real estate market and endorsements from the Sacramento Central Labor Council (CLC) and the Metro Chamber PAC.
“I am pleased to receive the endorsement of the RHA, an organization that has helped lead the way in providing quality rental living in Sacramento. I look forward to working with RHA to help make Sacramento an even better place to live,” said Johnson.
Since 1947, RHA has represented rental owners and property managers of multi-family and single-family rental housing in the Sacramento Valley region including the counties of Sacramento, Amador, Placer, El Dorado, Nevada, Yolo, Yuba and Sutter.
