Johnson Wins Mayoral Primary By Significant Margin

On Tuesday night, June 3, Kevin Johnson stunned Sacramento when the votes were tallied and he led his closest opponent, two-term incumbent Mayor Heather Fargo, by 7 points.  The race will not be certified by County officials until all the absentee and provisional votes are counted in the next few weeks.  Johnson,  who was trailing in the polls last week, unequivocally swung the undecided voters in this hotly contested battle.  Although at this time, it is unclear whether a run-off election will be necessary in November, in  Johnson's words: "We're just getting warmed up."
