SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento mayoral candidate Kevin Johnson today announced that he will hold eight town hall meetings – one in each council district – to talk directly to voters about issues facing the city.
Johnson made the announcement at a campaign kickoff rally, where more than 200 supporters jammed the Johnson for Mayor headquarters, as he launched off the second phase of his mayoral campaign.
“We are going to bring this grassroots campaign to every corner of the city to listen to voters directly about the issues facing us,” said Johnson. “I want to hear first-hand from our neighbors about what issues matter to them and how we solve the challenges facing us.”
Johnson also announced that he agreed to two debates, including one hosted by Sac State.
Johnson also called on Mayor Heather Fargo to sign a “clean campaign pledge” sent to her last month. Fargo has so far refused to sign the pledge.
“This will be a campaign of ideas and a positive campaign,” said Johnson. “I look forward to focusing on the issues of education, economic development, and public safety from now until November 4th.”
