Sacramento mayoral candidate Kevin Johnson made the following statement on Monday on racial profiling:
"Sacramento’s diversity is its strength. The statistics put a spotlight on the need for both the police department and city leaders to build greater trust between officers and Sacramento's Latino and African-American communities. There needs to be more education and community outreach, and we need to continue efforts to increase the diversity of our police force."
