SACRAMENTO – Sacramento mayoral candidate Kevin Johnson will be joined by California Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell at a community town hall forum on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at 7 p.m. at the Guild Theater, 2828 35th Street, Sacramento.
Johnson will outline his vision for Sacramento’s schools during the hour-long session. O’Connell, the state’s top educator, will also discuss statewide education reform efforts.
“Better schools are the cornerstone to Sacramento’s economic success and in reducing crime,” said Johnson. “It’s time Sacramento had a mayor that recognized that and is willing to roll up his sleeves and make education our top priority.”
The forum is the first of eight town halls that Johnson will hold across the city prior to the November 4th election.
