Sacramento, CA—Sacramento Mayoral Candidate Kevin Johnson will be a guest presenter at the 1st annual California Next Gen Film Festival to be held this August 28th-31st at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium. Johnson will take part in the festival’s closing night Award Ceremony at 7pm on August 31st where he will address the audience as well as present awards to winning filmmakers.
The Award Ceremony caps off the four-day festival that features young filmmakers who are moving the medium forward in various digital formats. Jaime Gonzalez, founder and creative director of NGFF, couldn’t be more thrilled with Johnson’s involvement in the festival: “Kevin Johnson’s recognition of our award winners will make the evening very memorable and exciting.”
Since retiring from his all-star NBA career, Johnson has worked to revitalize Sacramento’s inner-city communities through the development of new economic and cultural initiatives. Most notably, these initiatives include serving as founder and CEO of St. Hope, a non-profit community development corporation that focuses on economic and art enrichment programs. NGFF deeply appreciates his support for the expansion of artistic film events in Sacramento.
