Johnson Agrees to Three Debates

Friday, September 5, 2008

SACRAMENTO – Sacramento mayoral candidate Kevin Johnson today announced that he has accepted three debates with Mayor Heather Fargo in October.  Johnson had challenged to Fargo to three debates and to sign a “clean campaign pledge,” which she has continued to refuse to sign.

“I’m pleased to participate in these forums that will provide the opportunity to make my case as the experienced leader who can bring the change Sacramento needs,” said Johnson. “It is critical for Sacramento citizens to see the clear choice they have in this historic election.”

The dates for the debates, which will all be broadcast live, are:

•  October 9 – A “Town Hall” debate sponsored by CSUS, broadcast with KCRA-TV and KXJZ public radio;
•  October 18 – A “Town Hall” debate sponsored by CBS13, Bustos Media, and the Sacramento Observer; and
•  October 27 – An in-studio debate hosted by KCRA-TV and broadcast by KFBK radio.

Johnson also will appear at more than a dozen other candidate forums in September and October.
